TEAM NIGERIA CLAIMS FOUR GOLD MEDALS AT MARRAKECH 2025 WORLD PARA ATHLETICS GRAND PRIX

The F7 Discus Gold Medalist; Iyiazi Njideka at Marrakech 2025 World 9th Edition Para Athletics Grand Prix

Team Nigeria has achieved a remarkable feat at the 9th edition of the Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan International Para Athletics Championship, which served as the 2025 World Para Athletics Grand Prix. Held in Marrakech from April 21 to 26, the event saw Nigeria secure an impressive total of four gold medals through the exceptional efforts of two talented athletes.

Representing Nigeria with pride and determination, Goodness Chimezie competed in three field events—shot put, discus, and javelin—and made history by winning gold medals in all three disciplines. Her dominant performance highlighted her as one of the standout athletes of the championship.

Also excelling on the international stage was Iyiazi Njideka, who secured a gold medal in the shot put event in her own category. A seasoned para-athlete, Njideka once again demonstrated her consistency and excellence.

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and the Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, congratulated both athletes, celebrating their success as a significant milestone for Nigerian para athletics.

The National Sports Commission reaffirms its commitment to investing in and supporting para-athletes to achieve even greater feats in future international competitions.

The President of the Nigeria Para-Athletics Federation, Hon. Rafiu Olawale Etti, and other federation members extended their heartfelt appreciation to the Chairman and Director General of the National Sports Commission for their unwavering support and commitment to the growth and success of para athletics in the nation’s sports development.
