NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko Honoured with ANOCA Special Recognition Award

The National Sports Commission Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, has been conferred with the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Special Recognition Award. This prestigious award acknowledges Dikko’s pivotal role in driving ongoing reforms and strategic realignment in Nigerian sports, aligning with the Olympic Charter and objectives.

Dikko received the award during the Ordinary Session of the ANOCA General Assembly in Algiers, Algeria, where he was a special guest. The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including IOC members, International Federation officials, and Sports Ministers from various countries.

In his address, Dikko outlined Nigeria’s sports reforms under the RHINSE framework, highlighting the country’s commitment to creating a sports economy driven by the reset, refocus, and relaunch pillars. He also emphasized the National Sports Commission’s unwavering support for the Olympic Movement and seamless collaboration with the Nigerian Olympic Committee.

The ANOCA General Assembly provided a platform for Dikko to engage with fellow Sports Ministers from Egypt, Algeria, Senegal, Angola, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. These discussions aimed to foster systemic engagements, peer review mechanisms, and align with Egypt’s vision for African sports development.

Notably, Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) President Engr. Habu Gumel is seeking reelection into the ANOCA Executive Committee as Treasurer General.
