The 6th edition of the One Service One Medal (OSOM) Games, held at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja, has come to a close. The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) emerged overall winners, bagging a total of 114 medals.
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, declared the games closed, congratulating all participants, coaches, and officials on their dedication and hard work. “As part of our vision under the Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria’s Sports Economy (RHINSE), we are determined to reposition the sports sector as a catalyst for Nigeria’s economic development and a key contributor to Nigeria’s GDP,” he said.

Mallam Dikko highlighted the importance of the OSOM games in promoting unity, camaraderie, and pride among participating services. He thanked the host city, Abuja, for its warm hospitality and the Moshood Abiola International Stadium for providing a world-class venue for the games.
The Chairman emphasized that the OSOM games are not just a one-time event but a continuous effort to promote and recognize the talents and skills of dedicated service men and women. He urged participating services to continue training and developing their athletes to achieve greater success in the next edition.

Mallam Dikko also commended the armed forces, police, and other security agencies for their commitment to protecting the nation and their outstanding performances in the OSOM games. “The talents discovered during this event represent a significant reservoir of talents and potential medalists for our nation,” he said.
The final medal tally shows that the Police won 42 gold, 38 silver, and 34 bronze medals, while the Army won 15 gold, 35 silver, and 31 bronze medals. Civil Defence won 30 gold, 24 silver, and 25 bronze medals.

The Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, noted that the 6th edition of the OSOM games demonstrated the Nigerian spirit and yielded great impact in promoting sports, unity, and pride among service personnel. “The display of talents is quite convincing that the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the efforts of the National Sports Commission are both yielding great impact already,” he said.
The NSC Chairman congratulated all medalists and encouraged those who did not secure medals to remain steadfast. “You are all winners for earning the honor to represent your respective services at this national stage,” he said.
