The battle for slots at the Ogun 2025 National Sports Festival has come to an end in Jos, Plateau State, with teams from the North-Central zone competing in various team sports to secure a spot at the prestigious national event.

All seven states in the zone, including Benue, FCT, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, and Plateau, participated in the eight designated sports: Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Cricket, Football, Handball, Hockey, Volleyball, and Abula.

Kwara and Kogi secured automatic qualification in Men’s and Women’s Cricket, respectively, as they were the only states to register for the sport. With limited teams in some categories, the top two teams in each category have secured tickets to represent the North-Central zone at the Ogun 2025 National Sports Festival, scheduled for May.

The competition was intense, with teams battling for the few available slots to showcase their talents on the national stage. Dignitaries present at the event included the Director, Press and Public Relations Unit, NSC, Mr. Kehinde Ajayi, and the Zonal Coordinator, North-Central, Mr. Saka Akeem.
