Lagos, Nigeria – The Lagos First Generation Heritage Colleges Association (LAFGHECA) is thrilled to announce the upcoming 12th edition of the LAFGHECA Intercollegiate Games, scheduled to take place on May 31st, 2025, at the Federal Government College, Ijanikin, Lagos. This year’s event promises to be an unforgettable experience, featuring thrilling competitions, engaging activities, and a celebration of sportsmanship and teamwork.
The event will bring together over 25 prestigious schools, including King’s College Lagos, CMS Grammar School Lagos, Igbobi College Lagos, St. Finbarr’s College Lagos, Ansar Ud-Deen Grammar School Lagos, and Methodist Girls’ High School Lagos. LAFGHECA President, Tajudeen Adebambo, stated that the association aims to foster unity and rekindle healthy rivalries among schools, promoting physical activity, teamwork, and healthy competition.
The event is hosted in strategic partnership with Sports360nja, a Nigerian sports media platform that provides innovative coverage and analysis of local sports while promoting sports development at the grassroots level. Ukaobisike Uzoije, Publisher/CEO of Sports360nja, highlighted the significance of school sports in grassroots development and advocated for increased media coverage of grassroots sports.
“The sports media industry needs to prioritize grassroots sports in their news coverage and reporting as part of their professional calling,” Uzoije emphasized. The event is supported by Golvia, an expanding online platform connecting sports talents, athletes, clubs, scouts, and agents via social networking.
H.A. Badru, Director of Sports, LAFGHECA, announced that everything is in place to make the event memorable for students, parents, and guests, highlighting its importance in developing life skills and problem-solving abilities.
The Honourable Minister for Education has graciously accepted to grace the occasion as a special guest, and Otunba Dele Olapeju, Chairman of the LAFGHECA Board of Trustees, will preside over the event.
